Default Conflicting information about '04 shocks, need help please!

So I'm looking at getting some stiffer AutoX shocks for my '04 WRX sedan(specifically KYB and Koni). I have called several tuner shops around here and both have said that the shocks on the '04 are the same as 02-03, while the springs are different. Koni and KYB don't list shocks available for '04 but the shops said they would fit no problem. One of these shops is supposed to be "good" at what they do.

I called Koni tech support to double check, and they said that the shock on the '04 are a DIFFERENT length(by a small amount) than the 02-03 models, and there will be some fitment issues.

What the heck?!?!?! Which is it? I don't want to put something on the suspension that MIGHT fit the car correctly.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Bump. I talked to my dealers part department and they are definitely different from '03 to '04. The top spring perches are different as well.

Well, the spring rates are higher on all the aftermarket springs for 04, so it stands to reson that the damping rtes are higher. Which is consistant with how the 04's feel IMHO

I have 04 STI struts on my 02, there are NO fitment issues. If you want to use 04 springs, remember, you need to use 04 rear tops. Other than that, they are a direct bolt on part
