Clickin noise from new susp. heLp?
Here's my story..
I got a new suspension setup installed about a month and a half ago (P1). As far as I can tell they seemed to be installed alright. When I took the car out for a test drive, I heard the usual settling in noises from the susp. however, I kept hearing this clicking noise from my front passenger side whenever I would go over a small bump or when I encounter irregular roads. I assumed that the clicking noise was due to the suspension not fully setting in and because I had not gotten an alignment yet. Since I was leaving for Korea later that week, I decided to put the alignment off until I got back from my vacation. I drove the car as it was for the next few days. Anyway, now that I'm back from Korea I had Tacoma Nissan Subaru do my alignment. (They needed to send my car out to an aftermarket tire/alignment shop because they said something about their equipment not working). Okay.. here is my problem: It's been a couple days since I've gotten my alignment done - i still hear those clicking noises in my front passenger side suspension.. and my alignment still seems to be off. I even had the Subaru guys check out the torque specs and the general install of the suspension to see if anything was wrong. Should I go back and have them check it out? Or will it go away eventually. Could it be that the front passenger side strut was installed backwards? or is that not possible? Any info would be greatly appreciated (jason?). -Roy.

What does it say on the alignment spec sheet? (The printout that the alignment rack generates saying what they set everything to).

After the initial install of my STi V5/FHI V5/P1/STi V6 (or whatever the @#$%!* they are) struts with Eibach Pro Kit springs, I too was getting noise from the front passenger side.
The problem turned out to be that the top spring perch/seat was not in the correct orientation. The spring perches are not concentric with the strut body, so if they a not in the right orientation you could get rubbing. Mine were rubbing in several places, but I'm guessing your's may only be rubbing on one of the bolts that protrudes into the wheel well/inside of the strut tower. You'll be pissed when you see how much this scratches up the powder coat on the springs. The stock front top spring perches have three holes in them forming a triangle. If I'm not mistaken, the triangle should be pointing outwards towards the wheel. If you jack up that corner of the car and look in there with a flashlight, should be able to see what I'm talking about. |

Oh yeah,
I never got an alignment spec sheet. I'm guessin it's because Subaru sent my car somewhere else to get it done. .. it also might be because my mother picked my car up for me. Should I go back and ask for one? or is it too late. (It's been 2 days already). |

I 2nd what scottie said, you can actually take the strut of yourself in about 20 minutes or so and if that setup needs the strut machine thingy you can take the whole assem somewere to have them take apart and say lots of $$
