Post dumb question about scheduled maintenance

Why does the maintenance schedule recommend oil changes at every 3750 miles instead of 3000? I took mine in at 3700 and the Subaru dealer put a sticker on the windshield to remind me of +3500 miles. So they same to come in at 7200. But that's just before the 7500 maintenance. Am I supposed to get the oil changed at 7200 and then again at 7500 now?? Help please.

I wouldn't worry about it. If it's a handwritten sticker, the tech probably just forgot the "correct" mileage and put down 3500. If it's a pre-printed job, maybe that's all they had.

If your dealership carries other brands, maybe the 3500 is recommended by a different manufacturer and the tech just got confused.

I used to change oil at 3,000 miles but now, with the large amount to highway driving (not "severe driving conditions") I am content to change at 5,000 mile intervals. This may bristle some of the purists about, but with a '87 4WD wagon with 106K, a '95 Legacy with 116K and my new '99 Forester S (only 20K), it seems to be working. And, I'm always ready at a maintenance interveral: 15K, 30K, 45K, etc. But I must add that the initial oil change was done between 1,5K and 2K on all cars. I still believe that there is something to getting all that "settling in" stuff out of the oil filter and oilpan. Just a suggestion....

I changed mine at 2975 and will continue changing it every 3000 until I hit that 9000 mile change at which time I am switcihng to synthetic. Then I'm going to go 3000, then next change 3500, 4000, 4500 and I think I'll sit about 4500 unless I notice any kind of performance issues. I noticed no difference when I changed it at 3000 miles so we'll see.
