Default 02 sensor help please

does any one have any tips on taking the 02 sensor out of the downpipe? the sensor seems to be stuck (seized) and it wont come out. seems that if i force it out the threads may tear or the sensor may get damaged.

if its not possible to get it out then how much would a new one cost?
i guess the only place to buy one is from the dealer?

You can get an 02 sensor wrench at most hardware stores. It is a deep socket with a slit cut in the side so that the wire can fit through. These wrenches will wrap all the way around the sensor and provide the tightest grip so you can push as hard as necessary without worrying about breaking anything. Our O2 sensors are 22mm (edited as pointed out by Subiestyle).

If the threads are damaged I'm not sure what can be done about replacement or cost.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Just to add. . .a new sensor costs around $150. You should be able to get them from the dealer. If not, then try www.subaruparts.com

I Do Installs On The
Side;) PM me for details!

Actually the o2 sensors are 22mm or 7/8. also if you don't want to buy one of those sockets, just unplug the sensor (which you should do anyways), then just slide the closed end of the wrench through the wire & down to the sensor. BTW i've used this method for the front & rear o2 sensors. I've done 5 U.P./ D.P. installs so far & I've been able to get the job done w/ this method. Hope this helps.
