Default '98 Outback, ideal front crossmember for turbo

Now that the black FXT just laid down some serious power on its built motor/HTA Green/6mt set-up (and will surely get ejected from the track this spring due to no roll-cage), this winter we plan to make a lifted off-road turbocharged monster out of my 220k mile '98 Legacy Outback (in between finishing a 600 hp '70 Chevelle SS )

We will be using the 5mt drivetrain from the black '04 FXT (that now sports a 6mt).

To get to the point, I've been out of the swap-loop for ten years now (crazy how time flies), and I was going to just order a USDM '91-94 Legacy Turbo front crossmember, but then it was brought to my attention that the '04+ USDM STi crossmember has skid plate mounts and extra reinforcements. Can anyone confirm this?

Crossmember-related experiences from anyone with a swapped '96-00 Legacy Outback are appreciated. Honestly, the Outback project is just a fun side-project to work on between more "important" projects, so I'm not looking to spend much money on it. I have a spare EJ257 on hand, but we are going to run low boost on the stock EJ251 for as long as it holds.

FWIW, I'm planning to use a stock FXT front sway bar or a spare adjustable Whiteline front sway bar, but I think both are compatible with any turbo front xmember regardless.

Just use an FXT crossmember. It has mounting points for the underpan, clears your uppipe and would probably come with the spacers (assuming you buy used)
