Smile New Subaru 6 cylinder engine

I just learned that Subaru plans to sell two different versions of the Outback with 6-cylinder engines. Any chance to get this for an Impressa ??? The engine is only a hair longer than the 2.5, but puts out 210 HP.

Do you like automatic transmissions? (I am sure with determination, there is a way, but still.)

That way would involve an aftermarket ECU and praying that an RS or WRX flywheel will fit!

The Outbacks weigh more than 600 lbs more than the RS!

The Impreza RS weighs just over 2800lbs The outback wagon weighs over 3400 lbs, almost 3500 with an auto. A legacy L sedan weighs 3245 lbs with a manual tranny. That's why I have an Impreza

I don't think the new 3.0 motor weighs that much more than the 2.5 motor. The Legacys and Oubacks have a LOT of crap in them. eight way power seats, ridiculous amounts of sound deadening lots of speakers (magnets are heavy) asll kinds of stuff, I'll bet the new 3.0 motor wet is only a few pounds heavier that a wet 2.5 motor.

But why swap when you can get the new turbo. Come to think of it the turbo and plumbing probably make the 2.5 motor weigh the same as the 3.0 six.

Anyway I want Jackson Racing to make a Supercharger kit for our cars so we can have reliability CARB certification 50 state legality, and the powwer we need to be happy.

I figure a supercharged motor making 250 horspower would be perfect for my taste in street cars.

DO you hear me JR, if you build they will come, and if they don't I will buy three!

Have a Nice Day?

Those Outbacks weigh-in almost 250 lbs more than their 4 cyl. bretheren (I think the heaviest was in the 3,700 lb range). I don't know how much of that is due to fancy interior stuff (adjustable seat motor, other niceties) and how much is just the diff in wieght betw. a 4 & 6 cyl, but that's a lot!

That's why I didn't buy a Legacy... They're awesome cars, but too big for the 2.5 powerplant. Not enough "oomph!"

I heard about the new six-cylinder, too. I think it'll be a flat-6. First going to go in Outback Limited editions, "L.L. Bean" editions or something like that.

Just wondering When subaru puts out that SVX, or what ever it is. They used a supercharged 2.5, so if they make that useable haveing the same engine in our car would make it so we could put the SC in our cars, right and it would be a factory part. unless when in production they decide to use the H-6 in the "new brat"

The obvious question to me is, "Why not turbo charge the 6 cylinder?"
