News Free Prostate Cancer Treatment for Men in California

Considering that the majority on this board is male, thought this would be of interest, if not for yourself, then for someone you know that may be affected by prostate cancer.

It seems that the state of California offers free treatment for men with prostate cancer (if they qualify: CA resident, 18+, uninsured, under Federal Poverty Level) through a program called IMPACT (Improving Access, Counseling and Treatment for Californians with Prostate Cancer).

Please get the word out about this valuable service!

Federal Poverty Level is less than $9K/ year reported income. I'd be willing to bet that someone qualifying for that would be homeless and would have no idea they have prostate cancer as they can't afford to go to the doctor.

It's a nice idea, though. We should all be cognisant of prostate, colon and other types of cancer as most of us hear are at risk.

Blue, baby, yeah!

Thanks for the info ayapon. If nothing else, it brings awareness of the disease to more people. It's very real and very scary, and as Stanley mentioned, we are all at risk.

My father is battling prostate cancer as we speak. He had no idea until it was in a very late stage...
