anyone got any suggestion...
i have been quoted from AJR for either Tein or H&R
but just springs are over $400+ CND

Depends how much you're willing to spend. If you think $400 for springs are expensive then coilovers are probably out of your price range. I'd go for some STi take off suspension. Your car won't be slammed but would be lower than stock.

Seriously, if you want to be better around the curves, skip the 18s and save the money for tires and better suspension. Unless you have loads of Benjamins for the light weight 18s, whatever you gained is lost due to unsprung weight. My suggestion? Just look for STi take-offs - I can't imagine at the price range you're looking at you can get too much better. Unless you want some adjustable struts (I suggest not though)

I don't think he is that concerned. And light weight wheels won't make that much difference on the street.

I'd suggest for him to get a nice set of Prodrives, Eibachs or H&R springs to go with the stock shocks for the time being. You shoul dbe able to get the springs for 3-400$CAD. Keep in mind you also need an alignment. I would try to do all the work at one shop as you will save a little on labor and maybe even get some deals since you are buying wheels/tires and springs.

I bought Espelir ASD spring kit for World One in Seattle, then I had them shipped to Point Roberts for Pickup. Saved alot of money.

You should consider the springs I got, I had them installed 5 days ago and I love them, not toooo stiff, just a comfortable ride without the huge wheel gap.

$400 for just springs is expensive.

Is that including tax and install?

I think it's worth it in the long run to get coilovers. I heard that if you only replace the springs that your struts wear out quicker because of the miss matched tension of the springs and struts. I got quoted for a basic tein coilovers for around $1600 installed.

Maybe for a civic. Good luck getting anything other than cut springs for that for a WRX.

Why get coilovers unless you really need them? Just get some springs. Later on, you can change the struts.

for about $200 or so, what can I do with my 04 WRX to make it handle better?

New tires would cost more than that right?

Yeah, $200 would get you about 1 good tire. Excellent thing to be thinking of though. Stock RE92s are absolute crap and replacing them with something good is one of the best handling mods you can do.

For $200, there really isn't anything you can do. I don't think it's enough for a swaybar. You could get a performance alignment but I'm not sure you'd notice much difference.

Though, if you give me $200 I'll show you how to drive it faster.

$370 with tax and install. Tein S-tech medium set.
On the Civic, the same springs came to $350 out the door.

Just a caution for ya chopchop.

A buddy of mine had AJR install a set of springs in his acura EL about 3 years ago. This pass weekend he was getting some struts installed. What happened was the lower bolt that holds the lower control arm to the spindle snapped off due to corrosion. The result of that is AJR did not apply lubrication like they are supposed to on a pivoting point and through weathering, corrosion resulted. As of the other bolts on the remainding corners were corroded too but lucky did not snap off. My buddy now has to wait an extra few days for his mechanic to repair that lower control arm.

A good shop should not miss that kind of details. It is what defines a good from a "Canadian Tire" mechanics.

I'm not saying that AJR are crappy but for you to keep a heads up if you are getting work done there or any other shop for that matter.

have u checked out the tanabe gf-210 springs from teamwork?
check the tanabe website a few members have them on this
site as well. They lower the car 1.3 in the front and 1.0 in the back
and they cost me $290 at teamwork but they are only for the 04 wrx

Dude, you can't fault a shop for something from three years ago. How do you know they didn't lube it? And, what's to say even IF they had (assuming they didn't) that the same bolt wouldn't have corroded. Given the right climate anything will corrode. And three years is a long time. I put about 80,000kms on my car in that time. Anyways, my point is....you can't blame the shop for that. It's wear and tear.

i will ask AJR about the price on the tanabe springs, i want to get it from AJR too cuz they will be able to install all of my stuff at once so i dun have to run everywhere... but seems like the tanabe drop is less than H&R's (1.4" 1.5") and wat AJR told me is that tanba is worse than Tien's quality now, anyone can proof or know that?
and btw, is that $290 CND? u got the phone # of teamwork and where they are located?
thanks buddy!

thanks Ricewagon for the warning... i will try my best to look after the work but i am not that good with the mechanics stuff since i just started to get hook onto cars

yes that is $290 canadian...tien has been bad for a while now...they rust really quickly...haven't heard anything bad about the tanabe springs...even the prodrive spings are made by
eibach and they cost $400 us! The tanabe springs will settle as well...I hope u aren't deciding to drop your car too low!
teamwork is located in burnaby on kingsway near the club
mavericks...
