Stock WRX W/TBE 1/4 Times
I was wondering what most of you guys are running in your stock WRXs and with just a turbo back exhaust? My understanding is that most run in the 14.3-14.5 range at 93-94 mph stock (some as low as 14.1 at 94). If this about right?
How about with a turbo back exhaust? Someone in one of my car groups is claiming that a WRX with just a TB exhaust will trap at 100 mph (6-7 mph faster than stock) which I have a very hard time believing. That would mean an exhaust is adding a good 40 hp or so. Does anyone have timeslips showing what a TB exhaust does for a stock WRX and/or dynos to go along with it? Thanks!

I can give you a link to the gains of the exaust. But I have no clue on the et and what not. http://www.turboxs.com/WRX%20Exhaust.htm |

13.9@96 with just tanabe exhuast
[email protected] with tanabe exhuast and perrin downpipe + CAI. Many say intakes don't do jack, if so, then it's almost possible to trap 100. And this run was taken at 5700ft, so if the car was ran closer to say 1200ft; I think a better trap would result. Clarence |

on a warm day I ran [email protected] in my wrx with just the ghetto back. On a colder day I would have gotten in the 13's. The ghetto back... is ... ghetto I ran 13.2@103 with the stock exhaust, then [email protected] with the ghetto back. Both days with no traction. 1.9 sixty foot times. With a real TBE on my buddys WRX it ran 13.9@96 with me driving, all stock otherwise. THe ghetto back makes more low end, and kills the top end. I have changed it up since and I'm liking the car with no cats and the stock STi muffler. Its very quiet, but still feels quicker. Wont really know till I run it, but either way I like it how it is now. I be it might be a tad quicker too. and since this is the bragging forum I ran [email protected] with just an MBC and a drop in filter. TOTAL STOCK EXHAUST and race gas ~v6 Last edited by V6TurboTA; 06-30-2004 at 10:53 PM. |

You need 1.8 60' time to break into 13s.

ran it with my utec sorry forgot to mention it, i know my times should have been better but it was the first time at the track with this car. also that day ran a 13.7 at 98.24mph. was running the stage2 base map from turboxs, the sad part is the very next day i got hit by a dodge dakota, just got my car back about 2 weeks ago haven't had the time to tune the knock out just yet.

Never ran the car at the strip stock but with uppipe and TBE, stock boost, stock computer, I was able to do 14.3@98 at Dragway42 which is supposed to be a slow track. The 14.3 is probably my sub-par drag strip driving and my relatively crappy high 2.0xx second 60' time. On a less bumpy track I think it MIGHT have a 100MPH trap but I doubt it.

I hit a [email protected] w/ 1.830 60 ft.
This was with only a TurboXS RFL axle-back, Samco IC hose, and a drop in filter. Factory boost on 93 octane. |

I would venture to say that it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to break 100mph in a wrx without some sort of increased boost. With an uppipe and TBE, you should be able to brush the upper 13s @ 96mph. With a 2.0 launch, I ran a 14.0 @95 with only a TBE and uppipe bolted on. Same setup + boost controller @ 16psi + unichip + 1.9 launch = 13.59 @ 100.5

i ran 14.3@94ish with just the intake resonator removed.
had a turboxs unichip stage 1 (just the chip and a muffler) and ran 13.7@99 i've since added a catless downpipe, gutted uppipe intercooler hoses and my unichip is en route to being remapped by GP Moto. I so basing a similar gain between a full turboback and just a unichip/muffler combo i bet a few people can trap 100 somehow. that was kind of a freak occurence for me because i never hit 99 again, a few 98's and plenty of 97's this was at near zero elevation (long island near the shore) so it was optimal there but it wasn't a cool day. so yeah it can be done IMO |
