Thumbs up Took out my scoop blocking plates.

The idea uses common sense but I think I noticed a difference when I took out my blocking plates. One day I thought about it and took out the one above my intake and the scoop one too. My Cobb cold air is on the way and I was bored. I might be imagining things but it seems to have better throttle response. Now I have to remember to put them back on when it rains. Just thought I would post because it seems like a logical thing to do. Any one else notice any difference?

What you did keeps the intake and airbox cooler. Cooler means more power. I have had my scoop plate off and the vent plates with 1/4" spacers since July 00 without any problems from the rain or car wash.

It's funny watching guys at the autocross on hot days sprinkling water on their intakes to cool them down for the next run, but it works.

There was a string on removing the back plates just a few days ago. Read Scrappydoo's post toward the bottom here

If you really wanna work with a ram air intake, I'd suggest checking out this post They really get into using the hood scoops that you see below.

I'm still toying around with my K&N and stock piping. With the snow I get, and rain, and so on... I just wanna keep it drawing from in the fender for now.

May your line be smooth

Removing the plates dont hurt anything but I suggest you either leave the plate over the battery or use spacers on it. The battery doesnt like water that much. Your engine will definitely run slightly cooler with the plates off. I put mine on during the winter just so the engine gets some amount of heat to keep in the engine bay. During the summer we noticed the engine oil temperature was ~5 degrees cooler on average with the plates off.

Heh. Use the stock airbox as a sticker mount!

Also do yourself a favor and do something about the alarm siren if you haven't yet.

EDIT: oops.
