i just read in the other post that you have a carb 85 ea82. i had a wagon and a sedan of the same sorts.

any subaru motor, ea81 and ea82 will fit, but any fuel injection motor will have to be wired with the ecu and all the sensors

BUT, the heads and intake and all the goodies can swap over to another block. SPFI blocks have more compression with a carb, and it will give a carb more power.

if yer looking for a motor i have one laying around. have you ever been to fort wayne?

There's also a EA82T motor. That's a direct swap too.

how tough would an ej22 be? are the bellhousings different? i have an 87 gl with an ea82 and a 5mt/dr trans. i don't want to give up that 5mt/dr for anything, but wouldn't mind having an efi motor. i have read good things about the ej22, and they are pretty cheap..

People are working on an adapter plate. I belive Mudrat79 on the USMB is tinkering with the idea, but nothing has been released on the open market yet.
