Question CD player backlight doesn't dim?

Why is it the backlight on the time/track display doesn't dim with the rest of the controls? Is there a way to hook it in to the dimmer?

It doens't dim. It is a silly arrangement. They have been using that CD player since 1995 or so and it just isn't up to date.

Anyway there is no way to make the display dim without cracking open the unit.

It's really annoying, especially when you dim the dashboard lights when it's really dark out. I find myself ejecting CD's just to turn it off.

I noticed that my aftermarket head unit did not dim with the dash, nor did my aftermarket gauges. I wired the gauges and the illum. wire on the radio to the light in the ash tray. I noticed that after I finished, the ash tray light does not dim. I was planning on wiring the illum. wire to the wire powering the heat/ac controls, which does dim. I wonder if you guys can do the same on the cd player. Maybe it is wired to the ash tray some how? I have no idea what it looks like, but it may not have a bulb in the cd player. It might be an led display without dimming capabilities (?).
When I re-wire my gauges, I'll let ya know what happens.

Good luck.
