A month doesn't go by when I don't say something about the 48 hours.

Missed last years, some silly man made it right after new years. I was not in driving condition.

You should go this year, its a blast. By day 2 you are so used to being 3' from the bumper in front (at some points) you it doesn't even phase you.

It is a blast. Great way to see the scenery of NY/NJ/PA/DE and meet fellow NASIOC members from other areas in the region.

Ahh what a waste of time this would be a bunch of Subarus cruising around the NE and invariably at least one being stopped at the border. Don't spend 72 hours hanging out with these types.

Ed.. im curious as to how you liked your Pirelli snow tires last year..untill the "incident" with the large rock..
mine will be stock size so i doubt they will suffer the same fate as easily..
if theres one thing i know about Dunlop.. they dont last what they say they should...
but i have no experience with Pirelli tires.. will they last more than 2 seasons?..(i would probly have them on my car for about 8000 miles each year) because i know most snow tires wear out fairly fast.
i could go with a set of stock size Dunlop SP5000's that i may be getting for summer use.. but i thikn i'd rather usea full-on snow tire... seing how my RS got stuck last year with agressive all-seasons (not on the 48..um..50..uhh, 72 hours of Tri State)

anyone's opinion would help me out here.. dont wanna waste a few hundred $$ on tires..

I have always been a big fan of pirelli.

I am extremely pleased with the tires which are stock size albeit STi stock. They perform excellently in the snow. I don't know if I would expect much past 16k miles from them though. I am expecting three seasons if I can stay below 5k miles each year on them.

One thing that the meteorite experience did educate me on was that winter tires have a risk that they never tell you about. If you do damage them, replacement is a nightmare. All dealers order their tires in like July based on expected sales. After the manufacturers fill those orders, that is it, no more made that year. So if you buy a popular tire that sells well there won't be anymore available until next year. The only way I got my two replaced was the guy at TR was killer and convinced a customer who had already bought and paid for 4 and was waiting on wheels to change his tire order to another one. If it wasn't for TR going to those extremes to hlep out I was done for, Pirelli checked everyone of their dealers there was a grand total of one tire in the entire US and I needed two.

Next week I should have my snow tires all taken care of. I also got my $$$ put aside for the trip.

Lets hope this year I don't get sick again.

Murray, Try to find a set of Cooper snow tires. I had them last year and loved them. Since I live on a hill I kinda need snow tires b/c they don't plow that offten and I was flying over the hill.
