More information about the new impreza 2006-2007

The illustration above, purloined by our man in Japan, is an insider's estimation of what the next Impreza WRX STi will look like. Although many of the characteristic features of the current car are carried over-hood scoop, aggressive fender flares, enormous wing-the rest of the car shares some styling elements with Subaru's new corporate face, exemplified by the B9 Scrambler concept car designed by Andreas Zapatinas and displayed on a pedestal at the 2003 Tokyo show. The front-end styling of the concept is shown here and is reportedly the face of future Subarus. A new Impreza WRX STi should hit Japanese roads in 2007 and ours soon after.

While it looks more and more like this new look will indeed be the new WRX/STI, I'd be more interested in insider scuttlebutt on what mechanicals the car will have---like, for instance, the engine and transmission!

Awful lot of hating. I don't like the car depicted in that video game or whatever, but this new picture from C&D looks great in my opinion, much better than the current car. It has less of a "small car, boxy" look and more of a sporty, low slung look and stance. The current look of the car is its biggest downfall for me, I love everything else about the cars performance, it just needs a bodykit like Zerosport's IMHO. I would be less inclined to put a kit on this new look, just lower it, Im sure it wont come that low from the factory...
Oh and everyone stop all the bickering about reposting, who cares? Does it really ruin your day or something? Relax...jeezus.

I think this was moved here from General Community. News & Rumors seems to be the dumping site for that forum.

What do you base that statement on? If the Elise can pass a crash test, then that certainly can.

Just look at it. One minor bump to the front and there's going to be a whole lot of damage. From the grill to the headlights, any indentation is going to screw all that stuff up. There just isn't enough bumper there. I mean, look at what happened to the Legacy's bumpers.

You're talking about the 5mph insurance bumper red tape... Not really relevant to safety, which is what the NHTSA crash testing will be focusing on. In my opinion the IIHS test requirements (and the success of their lobbying) has actually reduced the safety of our vehicles in order to protect the insurance companies' profit margins.

first, if this car were to be the one they built, the bumper is no less of a worry for the 5mph rules as that of the BMW Z4.

anyway, on to the 'official picture' I've seen this pic in no less than 4 different posts. this pic is no where near what a real artist from any competent automotive company would create.

look at any of the lines on the hood, the one on the passenger side doesn't follow the one on the drivers side. look at the roof line, this is exactly the roofline of the current car. look at anything on this car, none of the lines match up.

this is the most widely publicised POS drawing I have seen.

If it looks like that - or has any hint of that frontend design - I am glad I got in for '05 rather than waiting!

I would bet on Subaru reverting back to the GC chassis type headlights (updated of course) with the new grille design...

IMO - that would be the best looking impreza ever...
