Default Silencer?

About how many horses will I gain with the silencer removed. I removed it today and I can tell that there is more mid-range power. I also installed a K&N drop in. The next thing is springs or exhaust? Looks and handling or power? I heard the headers don't help alot is this true? I have only had my GT a week so I am still learning. Should I get a muffler than get an exhaust? I don't have the mula for both. All you experts give me some hints.

Exclamation Suspension!

You will get much better bang for your buck by working on the handling first. If you do all the easy engine mods, they add up to a noticeable increase but they are all making relatively small individual contributions. The suspension changes you will notice right away

I also installed the K&N last week and just removed the silencer yesterday. After the K&N, I noticed a very significant power increase around 3000rpm - more power earlier. I've only driven about 30 miles with the silencer removed, but I agree that there is slightly more power. The engine definitely revs faster, and there is a little more torque at low RPMs.

I know this has been covered countless times on this board, but does your intake whistle now that the silencer has been removed? Do you like this whistle? I can't decide if it sounds cool or if it sounds like something's broken. It's especially noticeable at idle from both inside and outside the car. Other than the whistle, I am very pleased with the new sound. My friends noticed the new sound right away.

When I removed it in our 97 OB limited it now makes a very low tone only at idle. Not that bad but it's there for sure.

Couple of extra things to do to if you are removing the intake silencer:

Tip for installing a K&N Panel filter:
