Default MY00 Honda EX problem!!

Hello, I am a current owner of 2002 WRX but owned 95 Honda Civic EX coupe (AUTO). My friend's 00 Honda Civic EX (AUTO) has a little problem. When I floor the car, it feels sluggish and don't have that VTEC power that I felt on my 95 civic. Current mod he has is K&N intake, and aftermarket muffler + muffler shop mid-pipe. On my 95 Civic, even with stock parts, when floored, it lauched nicely (much better than 00 Civic) with that VTEC noise. Can you suggest anything that I should check on his car???

Default What is this?

First of all... go to club Si for a problem with a Civic, but to me it sounds like either fouled plugs or a bad O2 sensor. One of my friends had an Accord that was really slugish and even when it got going to car would slowly cut the fuel mixture until the car died because the O2 sensor was going out.

But I never had a problem like that in either of my Integras, my Prelude or even my Accord :-)

lemmie see... i drove my friend ex 00 that was like your friends.. and there's a KICK wehn you floor it?? but i think it might be his setup has too large piping and not enough backpressure for the car to get a good "go"

I changed the spark plugs to split fire platinum ones and reprogrammed ECU. I feel that VTEC power now

the only problem you should ever post on a subaru board about an EX is the unlikely event that you lost a race to one. In which case i would say, its either engine swapped or turboed to ****. the problem you have is that you are going to the wrong place with the wrong problem. someone said club si?

I used to own a 98 Civic EX (same engine as 00 EX).

When I changed the intake and exhaust on the Civic, I lost a lot of low-end torque that it wasn't even funny. But, it gave me a nice push once VTEC engaged. So, my idea about your buddy's Civic is that because of added diameter in the exhaust, his car lost low-end torque. Thus sluggish before the VTEC engages at 4500RPM-ish.
