Default speedo gear problem

I have broken two speedo gears in less than 500 miles and I am quite tired of pulling the trans. The first gear was a factory nylon type, the second was the steel RA type ( $170 ouch!) from Rallispec. They both lasted about 300 miles. When this happens my car goes into limp mode, radiator fans run all the time and can't rev past 4500 until I pass into the UTEC. I also put the kmph to mph conversion in so I will check that connection. Can anyone offer any insight?

Does the trans have lube in it? If it is low, you will burn up gears as well as the trans.

Maybe you need to pull the trans and split the cases to see what is going on.

to put the speedo gear in he had to split the case. Have you checked to see how the gear meshes with the shaft. They may be too tightly meshing together and causing premature failure.
