Default Found the 19s i want, will they fit?

Ok, after searching around, and coming to the VW community, i found the 19" rims i want (please no flaming on the 19s). Ok well Ive got a 2002 WRX. THe offset chart lists for up to 8" wide. Will 19x8.5 rims with a +35 offset, fit my WRX? if not, is there anything i can do to make them fit (spacers, etc).

If you think you need 19's, the brainwashing worked just the way it was supposed to.

yea. its a show car. I promise, it wont be my only set though, haha. Ill have my regular 17x7.5s for daily driving and possibly trips to the drag strip. But whenever a show comes along, ill put the 19s on. That way i wont ever have to worry about spending money on $200 tires, lol.

Yeah dude... that's not going to fit. No way, no how. I'd be interested to see just how much those rims slam against your fender though. I really doubt you could even get the things on.

Ok ok, no need for flaming me. I am a noob when it comes to this offset crap. Its not like ive been into cars as some as you old fogies (only kidding). But ive got the chargespeed fenders in the front, and they sitck out 20mm further (so they say). So i have no idea what i should do. i just want them to flush with the fender basically, and 19s so fill the hole. Tell me what is a good offset and width for stock rear fenders, and my 20mm wider front fenders.

...20mm is not alot ~ .78 inch
do the math: www.onlineconversion.com
As I told you before already, 18x8.5 +43 is parallel to the front/rear fender
19x9+43 is gonna parallel your FRONT fender under my guestimation.
But don't blame on me if you rub. The rear fender is not gonna fit for sure if you go 19x9. Buy the wide rear fender if I were you.
So all and all
19x8.5 +35 won't fit

Realistically, yes, they WILL fit but you only want to use them for show since at an offset of 35mm and width of 8.5" they will be basically sticking out of the wheelwells.

what are you talking about dude. it will totally fit. the guys at APC have a wrx with 22's with 30mm offset and it looks really good. they also have altezza rear lights on their car that really complete the car well. it should have came from the factory like that.

Yep. Drive there, change wheels, present car.

Change wheels, drive home.

Kind of like autocrossers do with an extra set of wheels; drive there on street wheels and change to race wheels. Except the wheels you will be changing to will be...well, basically useless.

Be sure to post pics; I'm kinda curious to see how that would look.

^^ yea i think i like that idea. Just do that...and hey if they dont fit. Ill just lay em on the ground to show off brakes or suspension (which i have neither). But...sorry, im never very mathimatically inclined Id rather ask and get an answer then search and figure out how to figure out my own answer. now that i think about it...that might have been better. less flamage...hahah

....and some people want to prove that they can do what everybody else says is just plain stupid just to prove that it can be done and in the end, what they did was a waste of time, effort, resources, and energy because the end product was as useless as tits on a bull.....

and what complex math are we doing here?!? offset is 'math' at the most elementrary level, its not even arithmetic, youre just determining > or <, so is the stock offset of 55mm > or < 35mm ???

ok quick 'math' lesson (for those who are not very mathematically inclined):

> means greater than

< means less than

for tomorrow's class, we will be learning how to count to triple digits, addition and subtraction are way too difficult at this point with all that carrying the 1 business.

Scotty: not trying to prove it can be done, because i know 19x8s will fit. I just need to know the offset for a 19x8 or 19x8.5. Alot of you dont quite understand, I do not race my car! And if i did, id put another set on there. I see Supras get away with 20s, Rx7s with 18s, and whatever else. All WRXs have either 17s or 18s for their daily driver. So 19s = show car.

Yin: I still dont understand what the heck all that means. Im trying to decipher it:
Quote:
We are determining greater or less than, so is the stock offset of 55mm greater than or less than 35mm.
And what am i supposed to determine by this. Is that area im allowed to work in? Basically, what are the max and min offset for an 8.5" rim, thx.

The Racing Heart 19's fit....I did the engine work on a WRX showcar that had them.

I'd still rather have a WRX covered in tire rubber and brake dust or muck and mud than one sitting at some dumb show, undrivable, getting drooled over by ricer kiddies with naws for brains.

EDIT.....

Heart Racing? never heard, or well, Racing Heart. Do you know which 19s fit? Or by chance the width and offset.

Quick question. Does rim diameter have any effect on width and offset? Because ive seen a few advan rims with 8.5" wide rims and 43-45 offset. So i think thats the direction i need, right?

yea i know that. But will rim size affect any of that? Like will the recomended offset change depending on if the rim is 17, 18 or 19"?

From my understanding... proper offset (48-53) = most rim widths will fit within reason. I don't know any WRX's running 9" wide rims, but I know quite a few running 8.5" wide rims.

Bad offset + wide rim = exaggerated problem. You're basically trying to put on a rim that is wide to begin with, and you're throwing it on there sticking out about 15-20mm. Bad news all around.
