it's not an entirely unreasonable question as some things in the mechanical world share the same measurement if you convert them but they are most definitely a different size.

Case in point: in bicycle tires, a 26 x 1 3/4" tire is a drastically different fit from a 26 x 1.75" tire.

But yes, in this case, 5x114.3 and 5x4.5 are identical.

For some reason, even though 1 3/4" = 1.75", the two bike tires fit differently. The 26x1 3/4 will be too tight to stretch onto a rim made for normal 26" tires (like mountain bikes use).

Thank Schwinn for creating this alternate proprietary tire size. Thankfully, it's not used on any new products these days and only replacement parts can be purchased now.

I just bought my first bike in a long, long time, so I'm genuinely interested in anything about them recently.
