Pirelli Winter 210 SnowSport Tire Pressure?
OK, I have the Pirelli Winter 210 SnowSports mounted. 205/55HR-16. It was a wash cost-wise whether I bought them through my local shop(s) or from Tire Rack but I wanted to support Tire Rack for supporting us here. Thanks Luke!
The sidewall says maximum 51 psi. I like performance, handling and response, but even 40psi seems a little high for these. Anyone with experience care to post a preference here?

I run 38 psi in the front and 35 psi in the rear with same size tire. The only way to find out what's best is to try different pressures until you like the way it feels.

I don't have those snows, but I run 41F/38R for the dry cold mountain ridges and valleys. You can always lower the pressure when you actually have to drive through snow and over ice. I used 16" Blizzaks last winter (and have them on now) and needed high pressure to get crisper handling on dry roads through the twisties. I usually run Prodrive P7s with S03s or lately F1D3s, so I am used to resonably good warm weather performance.

I just switched from F1's too. 225/50-16 on 16x7. They were starting to get hard and loud but still held their grip
I found 40/37 psi about right for the F1's (45/43 for Auto-x), and the tire shop put 40/39 in the Pirellis, but it just seemed a little hard. I lowered them to 38, and will see how it feels. These things have a more "rounded" profile than the F1's. That will take some getting used to. So far these winter tires seem better than the RE92s in the dry. |
