Default Drive ability issues, battery related?

Lately my car has been driving weird. It pulls hard from 3K-4K then doesnt pull hard, then pulls hard again at 5K again. But once I resett the ECU it goes away. Could these be cause of a electrical issue related to the battery? Reason I ask about the battery, I have heard the stock battery sucks and dies out. Could this be the issue? I want to replace the stock battery anyways. What would you recommend, Optima?

Your driveability issues are unlikely to be battery-related. If the battery is weak you'll notice slow cranking. If you want to check the overall health of your electrical system you can put a voltmeter across the battery and check it with the engine off (should be 12.5V) and running (should be 13.5-14.5V). Sometimes if diodes in the alternator fail the voltage may still appear normal but the alternator's output will be "dirty" and can cause unusual electrical problems. Only a shop with the proper equipment will be able to diagnose this type of condition.
If an ECU reset temporarily makes the car run better, this indicates that something may be causing the ECU to retard timing, and the reset returns the "learned" values to their defaults until you drive for a while. Bad gas is one possible cause of this.
