Default Tire thumps sometimes after being parked

I have a strange issue.
It seems that some times after my car is parked for a few hours that it will somtimes thump when I start driving. Mostley noticable when I get up to 40mph and above. It does eventually go away. Also they are Perelli Pzero Nero M&S. Have less than 4k miles on them.
I think its the right rear tire. It doesn't happen every time.

Also I have a suspension crunching nosie in the right rear part of the car.
Any coincidence??
The suspension crunch happens when I go over some bumps and sometimes when I accelerate. It doesn't happen on every bump or motion and I can NOT repreduce the nosie by moving the car.

ANY THOUGHTS?

As the weather gets colder the rubber becomes firmer and less pliable. The "thumping" is the tire maintaining memory of its shape from when parked. Some people call it flat-spotting. It's more noticeable with summer tires in cold weather, but with your Pirellis I'd expect this not to happen so much. I don't have them, so I wouldn't know. Since it is only noticeable on one tire, I'd be suspicious of low pressure in that one. Better check all your pressures to be sure. If the pressures are ok, I'd check ballance. Maybe it's been slightly off, but the combination of cooler weather and flat-spotting makes it more noticeable.

Stanton is right. It's a flatspotting issue. Sometimes made worse by the construction of the tire itself. My bias ply tires on my truck flat spot if the weather drops below 50 degrees. Very normal. Check your pressures, and also check to see if that corner of your car is heavier for some reason, or your parking in an uneven spot where that corner bears more weight than the others.

I've had tires that flat spotted so bad when cold that you thought for sure you had 4 flats for the first couple miles Forget what tires those were....had those on my SE-R....had LOTS of tires on the front of THAT car

I had a set of the Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S fitted to my 2003 WRX two weeks ago (~500 miles so far) to replace the stock Bridgestone RE92; I stayed with the stock 205/55WR16 sizing. As the overall temperatures have dropped here in Maryland I have noticed the problem mentioned (thumping tires) with every cold morning/cold evening drive…the colder it is the more pronounced the problem. I can’t pinpoint the problem to any one tire and tire pressures have been checked all around. I park the car on a concrete driveway at my house overnight and during the day she sits parked in an asphalt parking lot. I figured this was a flatspotting issue from the symptoms but out of all the reviews I read on TireRack.com before purchasing this tire I never once heard of anyone complain about this (unlike the ContiExtreme). Yes the problem goes away after a few miles of driving, once the tire has flexed enough to start warming up, but I’m curious about any damage the tire might be incurring while in this “out of round” state? Any thoughts?

If this were a balancing issue, as Stanton offered as a suggestion, wouldn’t the problem exist regardless of temperature?

I've got PZero Nero M+S tires that are doing the same thing...when parked for a few hours in cold temps (under 30degrees F) the tires thump for a few miles. I've never had tires do this before, so I'm just chalking it up to a quirk with these Pirelli's. Other than being an annoyance, it's not causing any harm. The tires heat up after a minute or two of driving and the problem goes away.

No damage done. Prior to radials being widely available, this was a very normal thing for cars. (Why do you think they have warmup laps in racing... its the TIRES they are warming up!)

To put any fears to rest I picked up the phone and called Pirelli to see what they had to say on the subject. The gentleman I spoke to said this is a normal occurrence with high performance tires and Pirelli’s full nylon cap (?) across the top of the tire conforming to the road surface while parked in colder temps; after about 2 to 5 miles of driving the thumping/vibration should be gone and no damage is being done to the tires during this time.

Well yeah, but I doubt they are having problems due to 18F (1F wind chill) temps and thumping tires. You aren’t suggesting that we take a sighting lap around the neighborhood before leaving for work are you?

If you have a short trip to the store you feel it the whole way. I just got mine last week. I really wish someone had mentioned this on the tiretack site, by tirerack when I spoke to them or by the tire installer. I don't like the feeling. Had I know this I probably gone with the Falken Ziex ZE512 which I have on my wife's Forester and don't flat-spot.
I just spoke with Pirelli customer service and they are unaware of any problem of flat-spotting with the tire and recommend I call customer affairs tomorrow (closed today). Interesting

Long Island. I know I haven't seen cold yet. That's what concerns me. When it get to the single digits or teens I'll have more of this.

Well, I spoke with consumer affairs this morning. According to them 1: only the the 235/55/17 on the Ford mustang GTis rated AA for traction.(I thought all of them were AA rated for traction). 2: according to Pirelli these tires DON'T flat-spot overnight and anyone who is having this problem should go to an authorized Pirelli dealer.

and The Tire Rack official response
Since the tire still achieves the AA performance level, the single A brand "under promises" the wet traction of the tire. The Tire Rack has changed the listing online to the single A, reflecting what is branded on the sidewall of our current inventory. We will update the UTQG specification published on our site to 400 AA A once our on hand inventory is made up of tires branded with the AA on the sidewall.
As for the "flat-spotting", I'd listen to Pirelli. Now, good luck convincing the dealer
