Default Blizzaks and the dry...

Got my Blizzak LM22's installed yesterday.
The weather was dry and the car is soooo much fun now.
4 wheel drifts on demand.
It's so much easier to act the hooligan now without having to try stupid things as the stock RE070's have too much grip for real world situations.
They are winter tires so I was expecting this, but the car is so chuckable now, I'd be tempted to leave them on year round :")
Supposed to snow tonight, so I'm confident that these tires will have no problems...........

Be aware that sliding it around in the dry will take off the sharp edges which is what gives the tires ice/snow traction.

I would have thought an accident trying to drift you car at 40mph on snow tires, would be preferable to an accident at 90mph trying the same on the RE070's.

Also, the strain on the drive train components would be a lot lower, both in drifting and launching with snow tires.

Also, if you get a chance to try both, the snow tires are alot more progressive in their breakaway, that the RE070's, which are snappy.

That sounds like fun but keep in mind those Blizzaks do not hold up very well under aggresive driving. If you can afford to tear em up, go for it but they won't last long. Besides, blizzaks are worthless beyond 50% tread usage as the compound in the lower half of the tire is just an all season compound.

Not true; that was the older Blizzak MZs. "NOTE: The first 55% of the Blizzak MZ-02 tread depth features a Multicell Compound while the remaining 45% features a harder compound."

The new LMs aren't dual compound, they use "L.L. Carbon utilizes a special form of molecular re-engineered carbon black, a key factor in improving tire wear while enhancing wet performance."

As a result, their ice performance is nothing like the MZ (nor the WS), but they do wear longer.

Glenn- That's actually good to hear. I stand corrected. That was probably my biggest beef with my Blizzak WS-50's and I'm glad they corrected that.

By the way, you recommended the Hakka 2's to me a few months ago and they're working out excellently. Thanks again.

Very true...having said that, I notice the same thing on my WRX when the Nokian NRW's are put on the car for the winter. Just last Thursday I took a corner, which I take every day, and did a purposeful 4 wheel drift through the apex.

Yeah I just put my LM-22's on today and took the car out for alittle ride and the car handles great. I am very pleased with the performance and handling in the snow.
