Default Azenis sport, how many miles can I get out of them?

I am looking to get new tires for my Sti and have received a few recommendations on the Falken Azenis Sport in 225/45/17 or 235/45/17. I got about 12000 miles out of my Bridgestone re070's, is that normal or did i burn them up really fast? Just trying to get some feedback on how the Azenis's would perform compared to the re070's on my Sti. Also wondering on how much tread life I could expect out of the Azenis's? By the way if anybody is looking to get rid of their 05 Sti rims, drop me a line!

I got about 9500 miles out of my Azenis Sports, in the stock 205/55-16 size. This was street driving only, no autoX or track.

Wow, that's horrible. I've put close to 8k miles on mine, with about 30-40 auto-x runs, and only minor wear is visible. I run 215/45/16.

I have a set of Azenis sports in 205/55-16 on the stock rims. They have about 8000 miles on them, and have about 1/3 of their tread remaining. No autox, but lots of cornering above .9g. They are the spare set, and I "rotate" them every time I put them on the car. I drive on them for about 500 miles at a time. The fronts wear lots faster than the rears.

If they were my primary tires, I'd rotate them every 2-3k miles.

Eh, it's not looking promising when I decide to get these. My tires NEVER last long.

As far as comparison between the RE070's and the Azenis Sports, they are very close in performance. I have used the stockers and 225 45 17 Azenis sports on my friend's 04 STI. The Azenis seemed to offer a little more grip and less noise when cornering, but the heat is a factor as the Azenis seem to lose some of their grip as they get really hot (we were two driving and didn't not spray them down) whereas the RE070's always performed consistantly.
Ride and comfort were similar between the two, each making about the same amount of cruising noise at highway speeds and each having obviously stiff sidewalls.
Tread wear seems good so far on the Azenis. My friend got about 20K miles out of his RE070's with mixed street and autox driving.
I have about 25 autox runs and about 2000 street miles on the Azenis and they show only the smallest amount of wear.

Overall, the two tires are very much equal and similar in many respects. I think what it comes down to is price. The RE070's are almost twice the price of the Azenis Sports.
