Default Anyone able to mirror the manual?

Was anyone able to mirror the manual? I'd love to see it, but it looks like tad_02Wgn was as good as his word - the link is now down.

If anyone can point me to it, it would be much appreciated.

Yup, my webspace is no more. Luckily, a nice fellow pm'd me with a link to his mirror of the manual

Can you give me any more information about the connectors on the rear? Does it have the rectangular 16 pin connector?

If you could take a few pictures, that'd be even better.

You can reach me at richmank AT ptd.net

that definitely looks VERY hopeful.

That SHOULD plug right into the back of the 6-disc indash unit. I read somewhere that someone got it to work. If it does, I should be able to capture the commands sent and *hopefully* emulate it with a stand-alone controller.

Any chance you'd be willing to let me borrow it for a while?
Drop me an email, richmank AT ptd.net and we can discuss.

Thanks!

I'm interested in this mod, too. I've wired up the audio inputs, like some others have, and the head unit doesn't recognize the input.

Has anyone made progress on these grounds? I really would like an AUX input- and would prefer not to hack up the stock HU or the cubby hole. I know we are all in the same spot- but apparently some of you have a good grasp on this process. Did you by chance happen to gain access to the 6 disc external changer?

Default purposes of wires

Based on reading the threads on this and my own investigations, it seems likely that the two "BUS" lines communicate serial information and the ACC and POWER GND lines provide power. I can also guess what the SYSTEM MUTE and ILL. CONTROL do. Has anyone figured out what the "+B" line does?

"+B" is "battery"; always-on 12 V.

No. I wasn't able to get the changer unfortunately.

In addition, I have since left my undergrad where I had access to scopes/logic analyzers, etc. I can still get the necessary equipment if necessary, however, and am more than willing to invest the time.

If anyone knows where to get one of the external changer units, please - let me know. I really don't want to buy a unit just for this project (they are usually several hundred dollars)... it would make more sense just to buy a new deck.

tad,

I just checked back here after being away for a while, and noticed that you sent a private message to my NASIOC account. (back in July, LOL I guess it has been a while)
If I were to contact you via email should I use the account listed in the private message or the one listed here in an earlier message. BTW I have a 6 disc external CD player exactly as pictured above, and a spare new Subaru stock single disc head unit that I'm willing to send to you for free, since I have not made any progress on this other than buying the necessary units and leaving them sit in boxes on a shelf in my office.
Send me a private message, here and a post here letting me know, and I'll respond ASAP.

Bob,

That would be FANTASTIC. I'm sending you a PM with my email address (the one I listed in the post above works, but gets lots of spam).

The OP hasn't posted on NASIOC in almost 3 years, and was selling his car at that time. So sorry guys, this one isn't going anywhere.
