Default Kicked Butt at Autocross

Just wanted to brag about my new WRX. The locals at the autocross in town have been hounding me to drive the Suby instead of my wife's MR2. Even on these crappy re92's I killed the rest of the GS class. Now I see why it's going to DS next year. I was more than a second and a half quicker than anyone in my class. The only faster stock car was an S2k. I'm thinking with race tires the WRX could get a bit closer to stock FTD, but as long as there is a C5 vette or S2k I'll still be behind. By the way there was a BMW and a GTI with race tires there that usually win. Not today guys.

Not to knock on your skills, but you must not have a lot of GS prepped cars (i.e., R compounds) in your region.

Not a lot but a couple. Put it this way a DSM (awd turbo version) guy came over to challenge the local GTI guy that runs race tires. The DSM guy had race tires too, but couldn't take the GTI. I had the GTI guy by over a 1.5 seconds. I beat a turbo bug on race tires, it was chipped, had an exhaust, lots of suspension upgrades and a driver who was at nationals last year (not that he did too well there, but he's pretty fast and experienced). I didn't even put a whole run together and still did suprisingly well. I guess what I'm trying to say is that with a perfect run the WRX will be hard to beat. I'm a pretty good driver, not the best by any means, but I'm still beating people in prepared cars with years of experience.
I was beaten by fully prepared TR6's, a TR4 and the s2000. I was surprised by the level of performance from a car off the show room floor is what I'm getting at more than tootin' my own horn.

Default What about Type Rs?

Unless you have a bunch of them running in GS, you don't really have GS. I also regularly get my butt kicked by Sam Krauss in his Talon when he randomly shows up.

AWMIII - There was one, but honestly he wasn't the best driver. He was about 2.5 seconds slower than my best run. He was running a showroom stock type R. To tell you the truth there wasn't a whole lot of competition out there this month at all. It's hard to get people to brave the Tallahassee heat in July (114 with heat index) and stand in a parking lot for 6 hours. I wish there were more guys out there in Suby's. Occasionally there will be a couple of RS's, but never any other rex's. I believe there is only 1 other rex in town other than mine and I've never even seen it driving around. It's nice to be one of the only new rex's in town, but that means I don't have much competition at the autocross. Time to travel to another division.
