Default Key chip in 2004 WRX?

Does anyone know if the 2004 WRX has a security chip in the key? If so, does this need to be considered when pulling the engine, harness, and ecm to put in a car without it?

It was avaliable for the 2005 MY for the STi, Legacy GT, LLBean Outback, and LLBean Forester. There was nothing in the 2004 MY.
