Question Solo2: Will the RS have any competition next year?

Well, here's the August release with the updated classing.
http://www.scca.org/news/fastrack/01-08.pdf

Is there anything left in G-Stock to compete with the RS? It seems all the stiff competition got moved to D-Stock.

I agree that the RS will be much more competitive in Stock than before, but Neon and Sentra SER drivers have typically done quite well. Heck, even the Camaro V6 was competitive in GS until the Turbo DSMs and ITRs started showing up. [Not that many people were racing it (the 6-cyl camaro) before ] Although most of the ones I see are in CSP, the CRX can fly around just about any course. It's been so long since a saw one racing stock in the hands of a good driver that I've forgotten exactly how fast those puppies are. Given its age, I suspect the CRX isn't terribly relevant except at the national level anyway.

On the whole, I think that proposed reclassification is a dramatic improvement on the existing stock classes.

Just my $0.02 from 10 years of Solo2 (BS-AS-ASP-GS-SM)

Camaro V6, Eclipse GT (v6), Probe GT, Celica All-Trac.

It definitely looks much more appealing for an Impreza RS than this year though!

Default yeah, but...

...most of us are in STS anyway, where times are typically slower than GS! Must be the tires.

If the Probe GT is still in GS, I would be worried about them. I have seen those in the hands of a capable driver and they do very well.

Don't forget the Mazda MX-6 LS. Also the Celica ST and GT are fast. Never underestimate BMW's in stock classes. They can surprise you.

Heck, I think the L model in HS will be classed nicely too.
