First ticket in the sti.
I can't believe this I got a ticket today. I'll start off by saying I absoutly deserved at least one and possibly 5 (speeding, no seatbelt, wreckless driving, exceeding db limit & failure to yield to on coming traffic at a intersection).
Ok so I was driving through china town going from general paint at main & terminal to ted harris paint on hasting's & heatley 3 minute distance(it's staurday, light traffic) I made a right onto hasting's accelerated through 1-3 upto about 70 (slightly speeding). But ahead was a cop on the otherside of the street that saw me rip it up to 70 as I reached to put the seatbelt on I put it into 4th so as to be a bit less noisy. It was too late I caught his attention. The cop had a hard time turning around so I think ok keep going normally I got stopped at a red and the moment it changed to green I made a left ahead of the oncoming traffic but I was out of the intersection before the oncoming car's even moved ( imo safe). I go around the block so I can come up hasting's in the other direction as I was turning right on to hasting's the cop's are turning left toward me looking surprised. I pull forward to the store I was going got out went in with no cop's in sight. 3 minutes later as I come out the cop's are standing around my car . I go out put my paint in the trunk all non chelantly (sp) like nothing was happening. The one cop starts telling me all the tickets and charges I could get and I just played dumb like I could not have been going 70 & yeah sorry the exhaust is a little loud . Then he pulls out his ticket book, I say I am not getting a ticket am I and he said " of course you are". He writes a ticket wile I am saying no ticket no ticket please. He does not ask for my license But I offer it up in saying I had not had a ticket for 4 years his partner checks it gives it back and I wait for the ticket's. The cop say's your illegally parked her's your by law ticket $30 . I accept it and thank the guy over and over. I am buying a lottery ticket. Lucky day lucky day. P.s don't tell me I was driving like a idiot because I allready know, I just felt like sharing. Oh and this reminded me I have to hard wire my radar detector now that the cigarette plug in broke.

damn u got lucky haha... but i guess the way you react to them seemed friendly and your record was clean... but becareful next time, seems like there are a lot of cops out there right now... i got a friend who got ticketed last week, and i just saw two more people getting pulled over today.. and those all happened in coquitlam (where cops don't give a damn, i think*)

More than likely they couldn't have made the other tickets stick in court because of lack of continuity. Since you weren't in the car by the time they "caught up" they don't really know you were driving, but a parking ticket it doesn't matter. I think they gave you a ticket for whatever they could.

I had that accident where I had a bad alignment and my front tires were bald on the inside.. The cop on duty gave me 6 points in tickets, I didn't dispute, and now I owe points, plus the record.. OMG.. I hate the way we handle things.. |

The story get's a little better, The owner of the store where I go said they'll take the ticket to city hall for me to explain I was useing the loading zone for loading purpose. Hahaha.
/\lil'imprez/\ I can't avoid the only subaru on the block in a cracked out neighbourhood wile wearing my blue and yellow scooby Canada rally team hat. Oh and I only said no tickets in 4 years when they checked it showed a different story on my driving record. If I split my 8 years of driving in half the first 4 years I got 18 tickets and in the most recent 4 I have only had 5. I used to be a real nutcase untill the superintendent of m.v explained driving is not right. In 8-9 years and over 20 tickets I have never caused a accident( not 1), actually the oposite I am sure I have saved countless stuuuupid drivers from their own mistakes avoiding crashes. /\ Allwheeldrift/\ Exactly lack of continuity. I am glad I got of the car before they got there. . P.s. China town echos like crazy and the insanly slow drivers there doing window shopping from their car tend to boil my blood and I end up gettin' all noisy. The cop said he heard me minutes before he could see the car. (disclaimer I love the vpd because the members are always cool about modded cars) I have had many more cop's complement the exhaust then give me crap for it. Oh course you can only push them so far before they come and give you a kick in the ass to say use your brain. |

Yeah just yesterday I was zipping onto the highway from a parking lot, making a right turn/merge, and just as I did a silver Saturn ION pulled left onto the road from the other side of the street, about 30 feet ahead of me. Course the Saturn is a tourist and has no clue where he's going so he's doing like 20 and he's right in my way as I'm doing 50.. The g/f wife in his passenger side is swimming in panic her eyes buggin out and her hands flailing around as I come flying at them, lucky I'm driving a decent car and I just slapped on the brakes bringing me to an instant halt.. Lucky Dip****s..

Think photo radar scenarios. No continuity needed as long as the officer observed the violation and the license plate. |

I got lucky on my way to the STi rally this past weekend. I was heading to the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal on the Upper Levels highway doing about 120 . . . look in my rearview mirror and see a white Ford Explorer aggressively moving up through traffic. I slow to the speed limit and watch as he moves up and starts tailgating me . . . at which point, I see the "hidden" lights behind his grill. Uh-oh. He turns on the flashers and pulls me over. I totally thought I was screwed. He asks me if I know what the speed limit is - 90. Asks if I know how fast I was going. I start to say, "About a hundred . . . " then I smarten up and say "I don't know - I was going with the flow of traffic." He asks me if I've ever gotten a ticket - nope. He walks back to his car, comes back, gives me back my license and registration, tells me to slow down.
I tell you, not having any tickets on your record is a huge advantage! I just hope they don't keep track of how many warnings you get |

They do keep track of warnings, a friend of mine got pulled over twice in 2 weeks, the first time getting a warning. The second time, he got asked if he had any warnings, friend said no, cop checked and saw that he had, and gave him a ticket.

Oh they keep track.. I've been called on previous warnings to my face.
I've also had a friend with a super heaty black 5.0GT almost get towed because he was kicked out of DT for 24hrs and got stuck in a road block where they were checking everyone. The cop asked him what his mental problem was, driving through town with a warning on his liscence.. He started to talk to his partner about arranging a tow, but my buddy just explained he was heading out of town and not going back in. The cops held us for a couple more mins and then let us go with another warning. Now getting kicked out of DT.. That was a story.. woah.. |
