For those of you who are not doing so well in the IT World. There is an article in today's Denver Post on the HUGE demand for auto technician's. It says that a mid-level tech (2-3 yrs) can make near $100,000.

Since we're entusiast's, it may not be a bad idea to have this field as a back up plan.

Not to quell anyone from entering the field but 100,000 is actually a unrealistic #
I would like to actually see anyone at that level

I know some techs working in the Chicago rust belt making 75,000 and they deserve it for dealing with cars that are rusting away 12 monthe after purchase

When I went to tech school in the 80's they told us we would make 50,000 right out of school I know better but some didnt and were they suprised

I called 10 techs last night to see actual $ for last year and in the colo spgs area 8 said 40 was tops (including myself) 2 in denver who work 6 days a week was 60 tops

to make 100,000 in this business it would require 33 $ an hour (no one made this in this poll) and turn 60 hours a week consistantly for 52 weeks a year Close but no cigar not for 52 weeks a year working 5 days a week 6 maybe but with the ups and downs it isnt likely around all the down times like the holidays and new years tax time, winter storms, back to school time in the Colo market 100,000 is a unreal # that I can find

Look at 40 - to 60 with lots of experiance and about 30,000 to
50,000$ in tools
