2002 WRX

Default new to this

i jus got my 02 wrx about 3 weeks ago and im lookin to do an ecu upgrade. i was lookin at the turboxs utec but its jus to much cash. i started lookin at the cobb accessport and thats lookin pretty good. is it a good choice? can i change the boost with the cobb ap? i dont really kno how any of this ecu nonsense works its real confusing im still tryin to figure it out...if anybody could explain this to me i would appreciate it.........thanksssssssssss

You should really try to understand what you are doing before you do it. Especially when you can blow up your engine.

If you are a person who doesnt want to know why it works, and just wants it to work... I'd get an accessport. If you like understanding why something works and like tinkering with crap, I'd get a UTEC.

There are tons of threads that explain why EM is a good idea and how fuel/boost/timing are related to it. Read the UTEC manual to start.

Yes, if you "don't know how any of this ECU nonsense works", then I'd say an AccessPort is your perfect choice. It's set-it-and-forget-it kinda thing.

No you can't change boost levels with it, you run pre-made off the shelf ECU maps with it.

You need to use the search function here as there is enough info on engine management to keep you reading for a month. Then, you decide what's right for you.
