Default Suspension Differences between the 2002 RS and WRX

I'm new to the forum. I wan't to buy a new car and I am considering the 2002 RS or WRX. I have never been a fan of turbos. I still remember the bad old days when they were fragile and unforgiving if you missed the strict maintanence schedule. Due to this reason, I am looking more closely at the RS.

I do love sports car handling and all of the public information say the the WRX and the RS have the same sports tuned suspension? Is that true?

There is an upgrade kit for the WRX suspension offered by Subaru. Has anyone purchased and installed it. Has anyone put it on an RS.

Note: This post will probably get moved to the Suspension forum

Anyway, Ive been keeping track of the 02 RS consistantly in the suspension cadigory, and the major difference between it and the WRX is the 13mm rear sway bar. But, there is also the possibility that the spring rates are slightly different. Thats it though...

And that optional OEM supension will work for the RS since its a strut/spring package replacing the whole thing. However, the front sway bar that comes with it MIGHT not work (I heard something is different with the engine area in the front causing the sway bar to be different on the RS)

The good thing though is that you can order the struts/springs idependantly from the sway bar and $$$ expensive Alum a-arms over at www.subaruparts.com

Yeah, that's about right.

Yah the sway bar is about $180 list. Go buy yourself one and take it to a few autocrosses to learn to drive it.

The new 2.5RS is actually a nice package. In that price range it's a real star, with disc brakes all around and a decent chassis to boot. And you can bolt on whatever WRX parts you want.
