Default Kingpin GT40R Turbo kit. Pics of turbo

Kit is comming along nicely. Here are some Camera phone pics of the GT40R turbo. I thought you guys might like to know what we are dealing with here. Its a monster and its hard to fit her into her new home. This one is the GT40R in .95 AR with .58 ported shroud compressor housing. T4 inlet. I cant keep my hands off her.

Pictured next to it is a stock Turbo for comparison.

Oh yes boys. This girl is dead sexy. Garrett still calling this a non production or prototype turbo for now. THere are very few of these floating around the country right now. We are lucky enough thru our great realtions with Garrett and their dealers to have got our hands on 2 of these fine specimens. We are on the hunt for more but they will be very limited until Garrett puts them into full production. Rumor is that will be happening very soon. Stay tuned for some sweetness out of this kit. I am juiced!!

You Boys need to stop showing me these kits hahah J/K Ahh I want a 40R on my car soo frickin BaD!! Yea thats one hot turbo... Some day I`ll have something like that on my car!!

On a ruff estimate, How much WhP do you think You`ll get on the 40R compared to the 35R with the 1.06 A/R?? I would guess near 460-475whp on pumper, is that about correct? Also When could we hope to see some numbers one either of your Shop Cars??

so a 100-shot should be enough to spool it, right?

It will spool on its own. Good things come to those who wait

I have no idea what it will do on pump gas. When you start to get to turbos of this size they tend to be a bit unhappy at low boost levels of 20 psi on small engines. All of my data shows that I should have no problems making 450whp on 91. On C16 the turbo has the capacity to make north of 600whp on the 2.5. Numbers will come once we do some testing. The real challenge is how to get "large marge" in the engine bay.

A local subie enthusiast (Devin of Revolution Motorsports) had this turbo on his STi and when Junior came down here to Miami to tune all of us, he said that the car pulled hard but that turbo spooled up WAYY late and barely had a powerband. He (devin) later downgraded/upgraded to a 35R and he is much more happy now. I mean, of course it still takes a little bit to spool her up, but not as bad as the 40.

That turbo is way to big for our motors. That thing will reach full boost @ 6500 and you have to shift @ 7000

I hope that this kit wont have the same negative outcome as my friend Devin's kit.

That wont be the case with our 40R kit. The turbo is not to big for the motor. It actualy plots nicer then the 35R does. The 35R is off the map at high boost. The AR on the turbine is smaller on the 40R then our GT35R 700. We expect full spool in the 5k range. With a redline of 8000-8500 thats plenty on boost power band.
