I dunno. There's really no magic whatsoever in any of the supposed "packages" being sold. It's an uppipe, a big turbo, and an exhaust. Big whoop. The measure of a good tuner should be the person who consistently produces the best power from whatever is thrown at him. Not someone who can tune their own off-the-shelf cookie cutter big-turbo kit.

If you just want a list of the best shop turbo kits, where's Ultimate Racing? They've had their GT35R kit forever now and it's top notch.

Why don't we start a poll to see who's wrote the biggest check to their tuner's shop,
Cause if I spent 3K+ on a turbo setup, 6K+ on a motor, No way in hell are you going to see me telling everyone that I like a different tuner

It is in the body of the 1st post. Jorge and I already discussed that. Apparently in some parts of the world, that phrase has differenet meaning. "Tuner shop" might not even have their own dyno to "tune" with.

Well a tuner to me is the guy with his laptop changing parameters in the UTEC, Hydra, Ecutek, Etc....

Tuner Shop either has both or the tuner also does install and then there is all the fabrication work that can go along with it. I am cheap so I do almost all the stuff myself now. I don't have a lift so I have Precision Tuning do my clutch swaps but I do all my own installation of all the other parts on my car.

Then when it comes to the tuning Junior is da man on my car

you deserve it!

I vote for Gadiel, Phil, and Rallispec.
If you are going to spend your money on a tune for your vehicle, the only way to really measure a tune is at the track. Dragstrip/roadcourse or whatever form you enjoy.

I've seen different subaru's with good results from all of the above.

A dyno doesn't speak for the performance of the car.

Your statement above is at best ignorant.
1/4 mile times measure a portion of the overall potential of the car. You might be interested in another form of racing just as I prefer a rally or a road course.

Don't be such a jackass.
Why don't you earn your cash, build your car and drive it quickly down the dragstrip and show the world your results. Respect the work of people who have very obviously shown the ability to build and drive a very fast car.

this thread makes me laugh.

as was said before, this poll makes no sense. you say that this poll is about shops that create turnkey packages. i can see 4 entries on the list that do not qualify for that...and can think of 3 places off the top of my head that should be added because they do.

IMHO- 2 polls:

-best product line from a tuner shop

with entries:
kingpin(turbo kits)
element(hydra+turbo kits)
ultimate-racing(turbo kits+injectors)
turboxs(utec+staged packages+turbo kits? )
perrin(suby wal-mart+turbo kits)
gruppe-s(turbo kits)
godspeed(turbo kits)
ispeed/crawford(turbo kits)
vishnu(xede+staged kits)
cobb(AP/ST+staged kits)

-best tuner/tuner shop
jorge
nathan(turboxs)
pdx
phil(element)
clark(kingpin)
dan(godspeed)
bill(ispeed)
shiv(vishnu)
gadiel
junior(turbotrix)

JMHO.

I think it's a great poll, but let's take it all in stride. So many opinions and not all are right (or wrong).

In my opinion, the best tuner or tuner shop is *not* the one that gives the highest HP. So many have commented that 'so-and-so is the best, they can give you a gazillion horsepower!'

I disagree. I still think that customer service is #1. High power tunes are great, but attitude, flexibility in work schedules, pricing, and *helping create the car that best suits the customer* is key. I don't care abt 1/4 mile times, but many of you do. I want stability/longevity, no CEL's, smooth ride, fuel efficiency + an unlock of the 'hidden' ponies. I want power of course; I didn't buy an Impreza for it's comfort, soundproofing, and interior styling Give me what is best suited for my lifestyle and driving style and usage of the car, and be fair and honest.

It seems many/most on that list qualify as having great customer service, but I wouldn't want 'Max HP' to be *the* most important parameter when rating Suby shops or tuners.

Maybe this poll really doesn't work to make a list of the best tuners. But it sure does generate lots of conversation. And I think that was the real intent anyway.

Dude why don't you buy a cadillac then ? this is a high performance cars forum, everybody wants results, good whp, good dragstrip times and for achieve that you need a strong car , if you are looking for a confort car you are in the wrong place....DUHHH

Ben

oh i decided on the 6 speed before that thread even happened.

my point in that twin charged threads stands not just for me, but any serious auto drag racers. just because i'm switching to a manual doesn't mean the compound charging concept has changed. it should still help an auto drag car.

the only reason i'm switching is because i busted my auto and i found a 6 speed for cheap. i'm half thinking of keeping the auto trans in case the 6 speed doesn't suit my needs.
