Default Why so much $$ for Body kits? fiberglass doesnt cost that much!

What makes body kits so feking expensive? I mean looking at just the front lips is average of 250$...THATS MORE THEN A NEW BUMPER!
Maybe its just my ignorance talking but this just seems like a rip off. Same material yet less of it, ok ok yeah yeah the design and enginering that go into it adds $$$ but come on! 1200$+ for a nice body kit is outragious see how most of them dont replace the current bumper and are just add ons...It just doesnt make sense to me..

I would love to add a body kit to my Scooby, but i just cant justify paying more then double what it would be to get the OEM parts brand new...i feel like the baby that just had his candy stolen.

Do you have any idea the amount of labor to hand lay a fiberglass bumper? The OEM plastic bumpers are moulded by the thousands...thats why they are cheaper.

So...yes....it is your ignorance.

body panels are expensive, get used to that fact.

on the other hand, collision repair specialists make a ton of money on body work.

Some body kit companys are only making the stuff oversees so you are paying a little more for shipping that stuff over here, then ther is always the hole thing with one brand bieing more popular then unother and then the company thinks ther worth ten times more then they are.
And on top of that ther are some crazy compozit resin and strange super flex extra strong glasses and clothes that can make the price of one companys stuff far more then another.

But on top of that thers just a lot of people out ther that dont know better and are willig to pay the crazy price for that stuff, so the people making it and selling it figure what they dont know wont hurt them.
