Default Now this is a torque curve.

This is the dyno graph of my friends 04 Cobra The pull was on 91 octane with a very conservative 19 degrees of timing. Mods are as follows:

Whipple 2.3L blower @15 lbs. boost, blower is capable of over 22+ lbs
catback
injectors
cold air intake
fuel pump upgrade
Predator (handheld flash tuner)
larger heat exchanger

Keep in mind that this is through the OEM H pipe w\ all 4 factory cats!

That is certainly impressive, but how come hp and torque don't cross at 5200 rpms?

They use a different scale for the torque and hp axes.

Those Cobras sure are nice. I'd like to see how much his factory piping is choking his car.

As long as the cobra motor has proper cooling mods and a good tune, it will live a long happy life. The 03\04s have forged rods, crank and pistons. The only real issue with these have been the "tick" (valve guide issue related to heat).

Yeah they are a better engine but the guides go heat or not. We have so many with that problem we try to aviod the Mod engines with any miles on them. Good luck with it otherwise

We'll see. This car has 15K on it, no sign of it yet. Not all the cars have it, which is odd.

I can't imagine a car actually doing something before 2000 rpms.

And that's the prettiest dyno graph I've seen in a while.

The 03&up Cobra's have a shortblock good for well over 600hp. Completely different than your average modular Ford motor. There have been extensive write-ups in all your popular domestic mags describing in detail how strong the Cobra bottom end is.
We can only wish that scooby motors were built this good.

Think about it...if you made a STi an 8 cylinder it would be a 5.0 making 600HP

Very nice curve.

Really, too bad they only made that car in '03/'04.

Next up is the 2006 Mustang 500 - back to a solid rear axle (why?).

Yeah, but it would take up so much room, you'd have to carry it in a trailer. Take a tape measure and check length, width, height of an STI engine and all the hardware and plumbing. Compare it to an average late model V8 and be ready for a shock.

because IRS sucks for good 60 foot times, and you cant hang the front tires as easy =(

Uh I've seen front/rear engine Eldorado's and Toranado's so if you really wanted to you could do it with a Subaru. Really pressed for room use a wagon

Oh gawd, I remember those things. 2 470ci Cadillac engines with AWD, and only weighs 5600 lbs. I think they were designed by drunken sailors. I'm surprised they didn't leave the steering on the rear wheels and make it steer the same direction as the front. What a great boat anchor. ADW to give it good traction on a slippery boat deck, as you drive it into the water.
