Default Finding a OEM diff for cheap

Hey guys, after months of dealing my dealership, it appears my vicious coupling (on my 2002 WRX MT) is taking a dump. Now I cant remember if the service manager said it was the center or front, though I think he said center. I'll check with the dealership on Monday morning.
The dealership agreed it was most likely abused by the previous owner but they still wont cover the work. I called SoA and they basicly told me what the dealer said was true and that was final.
So I need some info on this part.
Do other Subarus share this same diff; is it interchangable with non-02WRX's?
Should I get one from the junkyard, buy it from a place like subaruparts.com or buy a aftermarket one?
I'm a bit low on cash these days so I cant go all out a high-end diff.

Also can someone give me some tech detail on this part (parts #, web links, etc)? Do I just buy the diff internals or case with internals?
My buddy who is a tech at Firestone said he would do the install for parts cost but he doesnt have much experience with Subaru AWD trannys.
I'm leaving for Iraq in the next couple of months so I want to get my WRX's AWD running fine for my mother during the winter.

Thanks in advance!

Keep asking local Suby dealers for a broken WRX tranny. get the diff out. Most dealers won't touch a broken tranny, they just replace. Find one of the broken ones, usually broke only a gear or two. There are plenty of broken trannys in my town. Or, search for someone who has broken their tranny and track it down.
