Post Best transmission oil for WRX gearboxes

Has anyone tried the Motul Gear 300 for your WRX gearbox?

Redlines and other manufacturers have cool synthetic oil for the transmission, but some of them are only for hypoid axle without LSD. Mine is 04 WRX, so does anyone know if it has the hypoid axle? I believe the WRX comes with LSD...right?

I'm just not so sure, so if advice would be appreciated. I'm in search for a great Transmission oil (something that will help the trannie last longer and shifting easier). Thanks.

Take a look at the "gear oil" sticky at the start of the transmission forum for starters.

I just recently replaced my clutch and switched to Motul 300. Definitely a plus. Car shifts smoothly. I have been running i for only a week but definitely recommended.

Been running Motul gear 300 for two years - no problems at all. (actually, probably about time to change - debating whether or not I should stick with Motul, or try the Silkolene Silktran Syn 5 stuff...)

Hey! Alright!

Another thread about tranny fluid. It's about time! For a minute there I thought people were reading the stickies or doing searches. You know why people don't read the search threads about oil and gear lube? It's because there are so damn many of them. Because people keep starting new ones! Hey, go figure!

Everybody pretty much swears by what they are using. I think the best thing you can do is try different things for yourself and see how they work for you.

I use Amsoil 20w50 motor oil in my tranny. No problems. I like it.

I saw on the motorsports forum that a concotion of 3 qt of redline mt-90 and 1 qt of redline shockproof will work wonders.

I'm using MT-90 right now... 1st gear is virtually impossible to get into but the shifts are smooth.

Sarcastic is my middle name. I usually don't post unless I can add something positive to the thread. Unfortunately I got carried away.

Anyhow, good times.
