Auto or manual?

I believe that information can be found in your owners manual. IT should be in your glove box.

Not sure if the 2003's have a different capacity, but my 2005 Impreza service manual says the 5MT trans takes 3.5L (3.7 US qt) of fluid.

From the service manual: "For MT vehicle, differential oil works as manual transmission oil to lubricate differential."

Manual takes 3.7 qts and does not have a front differential. Only automatics have a front differential.
