70k miles on an 02 WRX, what will I replace soon?
I've done all of the basic stuff thus far (spark plugs, brakes, air filters, oil changes, battery, fuel filter, etc.).
What are the next things that I should expect to replace? I'm talking real world stuff, not what the dealer recommends. Struts? Timing Belt? Clutch?

I needed a car for daily commuting, winter driving, and Summertime towing. Didn't make sense to buy an SUV, might as well keep the WRX. I can't afford a house around here anyway |

My 02 has 89K on it and I've replaced the A/C compressor, the tires, the battery and had the computer chip reprogrammed a couple times to fix the cel glitch where it thinks you are misfiring. I'm going to bring it in to have the A/C freezup fix done too, that came out in a tech bulletin a year or so ago. Other than that, she is still the most enjoyable car I've ever owned. I'll have to think about keeping my 02 as a winter car...hmmm.

What about the water pump? I've never kept a car to 70k miles before, so I'm not sure what starts to break down. |

My L has 93K and I am in need of rear wheel bearings, and my A/C has died, not sure if it is just a recharge or the Comp. My motor, trans, and rear are only 35Kish miles old from a WRX so all is newer there.

Usually, that gets replaced at the same time as the timing belt. |

Just had everything checked out a couple weeks ago, everything looks in excellent shape. I think on a Suby you are going to find fewer major things breaking down. Just my gut and some informed reading but the maintenance record for a 02 WRX is about as good as you are going to get. I don't think that you will be seeing any major headaches, just the smaller neusance items like tires and batteries and belts etc.
Oh, one other neusance item to report, my compass in the dimming mirror says that I am always heading NW. I try not to dissagree with my car...but I'm half way through the Yukon and fast aproaching the artic circle and could use directions to a gas station... ) |

And right next to the TB, have you replaced the PCV valve? What about tranny fluid? And the rear diff fluid? Antifreeze? Replaced the brake fluid yet? |

nothing special for 75k, but soon, u will need timing belt/water pump. belts and hoses are not a bad idea as well, while u're at it, the thermostat as well
i would do all that in one shot at probably 100k, which mine is going to reach probably this time next yr. nothing special rally, just the basic maintance item and you should be fine...and yes, people often overlook the pcv |

Mine's at about 72K and it needs a fan belt. Other than that, I've done all the regular maintenance and haven't had a problem yet.
