Wink The true purpose of a N/A hood scoop.

I was driving down the road doing about 60mph. I see this damn dove just sitting there not moving. I told my date not to worry because he was just playing chicken with me or something. Then I thought to myself this bird isn't going to move. The bird try to make a get a way, but instead of flying to the side it flew straight. He made it about five feet before he hit the hood then the hood scoop. His feathers just exploded everywhere. My date just gasped and covered her eyes. I looked in the rear mirror to see him hit the windshield of the car behind me then roll off. My date started to get pisst at me cause I couldn't help but laugh. I told her a little white lie and said that the bird was all right. I said that it flew off after it hit my car. Well it did kinda'

My hood scoop consumed most of a newspaper at 65mph one windy afternoon on the highway. I ended up pulling over at the next exit and surgically removing it from the scoop. Luckily my scoop was closed at the time, and home made it into the engine compartment.

Eww, I'm gonna leave mine closed! I did get a pink plastic bag stuck to my v5 spoiler for quite a while. It stayed on till I made a dead stop. That was pretty embarassing!

Thumbs up not too much damage......

I finally washed my car today. There was a big streak of feather dust on the hood and two small faint scratches. It also did a very tiny chip to the scoop. I don't care too much for that though. The bird paid the ultimate price I think. Now if I can get the other three that ate through my clear coat with their poop.

I've hit a bird once, but it didn't get into the scoop. It must be a pain to clean that mess up.

My Fiance and I were going down the freeway today at about 75. It's dark out and I see the a bunch of geese flying over the trees. By the time I look back at the road there is no time to respond, there is a lone Canadian Goose flying head on toward me! Both my Fiance and I jumped as we realized how low this thing was. It passed less than 5 feet over my car!! I checked to see if there was maybe an Excursion or something behind me, but it was all clear...

When I saw that big black head smiling at me and closing fast, the look of grim suicidal determination in his eyes, those two little feet tucked back to allow for the highest possible speed, all I could think was how that thing was trying to kill us.

In the end I suppose I was lucky it didn't crap on us, at that speed and angle it would have probably shattered the windshield.

Don't worry Silas, that same damn goose succeeded on my mum's car (Acura Legend). New hood, grill, headlight, lines, & valve cover, oil filler cap.

That damn bastard weighed 47lbs. It took us two weeks to finish him off. Damned straight. He had it coming. Blasted Goose! But he did go well with stuffing.

No goose weighs 47lbs.! A huge Turkey is 20lbs., bigger than a goose and can't fly!

You actually ate a goose that did that much damage to a car with it's body? It must have been pulped. What did you do, drink it?

I've had a number of problems with flying things hitting my car. A couple weeks ago, my friend and i were cruising along and a freakin bat smacked into my windshield. like wings spread and everything. scared the crap out of me! those things are ugly....i've never seen one so close up before...and i hope i don't have to again!

then just a couple days later i hit a bird. i was doing a little over 100mph on the freeway, and this thing just went *splat* right on my windshield. feathers exploded everywhere, and there was a big smear half way up the windshield where the rest of the goo slid off and over. that really scared the crap out of me because it felt like a missle hit my car or something. i swerved across into the next lane, i'm glad no one else was there next to me!

I was in my Suzuki Swift GT once and had my girlfriend in the car and we hit a dove.

It was sitting in a left turn lane and I needed to turn. I figured it would fly off, but it sat right there staring at me. It got hit .. HARD .. and I could NOT stop laughing. I felt the 'thump' on my floorboard as we drove over it, and as I looked in my rear-view all I saw was feathers.

It looked like someone cut open a down pillow. I almost wrecked I was laughing so hard, and my GF was yelling at me (damn liberal animal right's whiner).

I still laugh every time I think of that cloud of feathers.

Well it did kinda'........

That's just too good.

Doves have got to be the absolute dumbest birds in the world. Notice how small their head is in relation to their body size? Geez, their brain must be no bigger than an M & M (Plain).

What is it with doves? Must be very unhappy and suicidal birds...same thing happened to me. Like it was waiting for someone to drive by. It flew up and bounced off the top of my windshield...in my rearview I just saw feathers floating down.
And just yesterday morning a small bird like a sparrow or something landed on the road in front of me - I thought I'd driven over it til I felt a little bump
