Fuel Filter Change...Oops!
welp...changing the fuel filter on my 2000 Forester today and...oops, i pinched the hose too close to the nipple and punctured it. this is _after_ a titanic 45 minute struggle including the walking around muttering phases. anyway, went down to the local auto-parts place and the closest match they had was 5/16" normal (not hi-pressure) tubing. it seemed to fit the nipples well enough but the clamps were a little small for it.
so the Q is...i'm going to have to change these out again to get some fuel-injector-firendly hoses in, what's the exact diameter i need to look for? i would imagine it's some meteric number but i wasn't able to find diameters in the FSM. a second, less important Q is, i read that i should use some lithium grease on the middle nipple (i just like saying nipple) zone but i couldn't find any lithium grease at the parts store. only lithium-based lubricant i can recall seeing is spray can based, but i think i'ld want something in a tube to manually spread around. any brand suggestions? as always, thanks for the help.

I used intake cleaner by BG, makes it slide on easily. Dunno where you can buy it. It also is a penetrator and lubricant, so it reduces the 45 minute struggle to a 30 seconds paradise to remove the hose.

2.54 centimeters per inch. If you do the conversion you can see what the old hose says on it, see if it is close to the diameter you arrive upon. Or just measure the metal line. You definately need to get some FI hose. You would not like an engine fire. Or just replace it with normal fuel hose and uprgrade your insurance. Dont tell em about your work though, cause that will be an issue when your car burns up and you are trying to get paid.
