Default 205/55-16 can it change to 225/50-16?

Hey I have the stock rims and tires on.....car is badly condition, I have the stock rims and was saving up for rims and tires later, can I change it to 225/50-16 from 205/55-16? The surface is wider but I don't know the stock rims was only meant to handle 6.5in wide for the inner rim? can someone help me and any suggestion? I tried finding the Falken Azenis RT-215 but they stop production. anyother suggestion on tires for stock rims, but really good tires for racing(not street racing)maybe......at the 1/4 track and every day drive? thanks lots, stealthfishwrx.

If you're asking if a 225/50 will fit on your stock wheel, the answer is yes. If you're asking if you can increase the wheel width with after-market wheels, the answer is yes as well, up to about 8.5" without rolling the quarters, but you must be careful with the offset, the closer to +50 the better, as an 8.5" +35 won't work without rubbing. Most after-market wheels that are 8.5" wide are going to be in the +45 to +48 range, which will work just fine, and on those wheels you can fit a 235 without rubbing (depending on the specific tire).
