car is having issues starting
Guys, any input would be good here. I recently replaced my battery, it was dead after I came home from a week of vacation (it had been starting slowly for a good while before that). I replaced the battery a week ago and things were great for about 5 days. About 2 days ago, I noticed my car being really sluggish to turn over again, and it's been weird for the last couple days. Now about 1/2 the times when i go to start it, it makes the clicking noise and doesn't start. Then I retry it right after my first attempt, it starts, but not always as fast as it was right after I got the battery, rather, kind of sluggish.
Anyways, I tested the battery and charging system. Batter is in great shape, 12.8v (as it should be after a week) and the charging system was at 14.0+ or higher. Can anyone please help me out, it's kind of scarey not knowing if my car is going to start or not. thanks, jared

I really think it's a short somewhere. I could swear my egt gauage is acting wacko, when I lift totally off the throttle it goes down it temp way faster than normal. And I could swear I saw the speedo jump up to like 20 mph before i even got moving yesterday from a light. Sometimes the car starts fine but that's usually right after it's been driven recently.

i'm still at a loss for what's wrong. I haven't had a chance to take it to my mechanic yet. There must be some sort draw or reason for power loss.

I once had that problem with my car and it turned out to be that the negative battery terminal connection needed taking off and cleaning. I alsocleaned the negative terminal post on the battery as well as the positive terminal post and connector.
In addition to cleaning be sure to tighten the connectors. Good luck and let me know how it goes. |

cleaning the cable has seemed to help atleast so far. The battery terminal was clean since it was about 2 weeks old.
