TUFOIL:Good for subbies? Anyone heard about or tried this?
So I was listening to a cartalk show on my way home from work the other day & they were talking about oils and then got into oil additives which they said all pretty much suck and just as long as you change your oil regularly you don't really need any. As they were talking calls one caller called in about this tufoil stuff saying he's been putting it in his toyota for years, but just between a half an ounce to an ounce each oil change. Mr "car doctor" the host said if he would recommend any additive it would be this stuff which is supposidely mentioned in the Guiness Book of World Records as well. Normally I would have been have asleep not paying attention but what really woke me up was a STI owner called in who had been using it for about 9 months or so. He was on the 3rd oil change with it and said how great he thought it was. Said he noticed his engine temp ran cooler, his turbo spooled up a bit quicker and on & on. The host was saying this stuff was supposed to be really good for any turbocharged engines. Anyway just wondering if maybe the STI owner hung around these parts or if anyone else has heard or tried this stuff on their own subbies or any cars for that matter? the web site is just tufoil & there is a frequently asked question page that seems to answer a bunch of questions when you open the main page click on faqs, (I would have just posted the link but it wouldn't allow me to post links since I haven't posted enough. I'm more of a listener, not a talker) Anyway, of course I'd rather hear opinions on this from third party people like you all then straight from the companies web site. But since this stuff has been around for awhile and not some new product I was hoping I and others could get some more answers and/or opinions on it. Sorry this was so long
Thanks & on with the debate.

I would defer to the knowledgeable oil "geeks" over on the BITOG forum, here are a couple of message threads about TUFOIL:
http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/...c;f=5;t=002983 http://theoildrop.server101.com/ubb/...c;f=5;t=002829 http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/...c;f=5;t=001274 This, and other "snake-oil" additives like Slick50, ProLong, etc. will never see the inside of my STi's engine. |
