Default First time autocross today!

I'll be racing my WRX later today (I did not find anything usefull on search) and I was wondering if anyone has any pointers for me? Don't bother saying get a good nights sleep, I'm working tonight and racing after work (yawn). I think the lack of low end power is going to be a problem. I'm planning on running 42 Front and 35 rear. Any advice please.

Thanks in advance,
Regan-

Go slow in the slow parts and go fast in the fast parts. Don't get the two confused.

That's an old autocross mantra. Seriously, just drive to the limits of what you and your car are capable of. Slowly expand your comfort zone. You won't be competitive, so don't be worried about that. Just learn and have fun!!!

Slow down for the slow corners. The earlier you can get on the gas coming out, the faster your run will be (generally speaking.) The straightaway after the corner will gain you more time than you will lose in the corner. On the other hand, if you try to take the slow corners too fast, you will probably be slow all the way down that (way too long if you messed up the corner) straightaway.

That's my big tip. Anyone else?

Go really really fast. If a cone gets in your way, turn!

A little bit of "Better off Dead" wisdom goes a long way doesn't it. That's what I teach my snowboarding students. Turn!

Thanks for the pointers, I figure I'll take it slow the first couple of runs as suggested. I just did not want to make a complete [email protected]@ of myself out there. How do I go about keeping the car from bogging (turbo spooled), heel toe? Maybe left foot braking? I think for this race I'll work on just staying on the course.
