Post buying out of dealer stock vs ordering from factory

If you're supposed to baby a car for the first 1000 miles, isn't it then stupid to buy a car off the lot that has been test driven any amount at all? Shouldn't you decide what you want and then order it from the factory. Everyone who has test driven any given car has beaten the [email protected]%*#s out of it. Wouldn't that be a bad thing?

*shrug* My car only had 7 miles on the odo when I picked it up. I put several of those on during my own test drive. I have a hard time believing anyone had a chance to beat on it. I guess it depends on the dealership. Some dealers will let you take the car out by yourself, others will have the salesperson ride along. I'd be more wary about buying from the first, but as long as the mileage isn't excessive, I wouldn't worry too much. Heck, if there are alot of miles, you might be able to get them to drop some off the price.

My dealer had a specific RS for test drives. My car was tucked away in the back, with my name on it, when I got there.
