Angry my car got keyed

first of all sorry if i posted this in the wrong forum..second of all sorry for not searching....i'm just a little too heated right now for searching through threads...basically i just found my baby keyed up on the passenger side....it's a wavy line about midway from the rear fender to about ten inches into the passenger side door....i just want to know what i can do to "fix" it in the mean time....mind you....the mean time is the time from now until i have a full body kit and my wing....at which point i will visit the paintshop and tell them i want steel blue mica...but that won't be happening till about next fall...so i need a fix that'll minimize the damage that's already been done...once again sorry for not searching....i'd really appreciate the advice though.....oh ya..if anyone knows of places for rent within the ridgefield park area of new jersey i'd appreciate that too...jersey city's been horrible to my baby..thanks in advance

Go to insurance, pay deductable, get most of car repainted. See if you can get the body shop to paint it the color you want, then pay for the rest to get painted as well.

Did the keying go alll the way through the paint to the tin???

If so you can get a product from 3M, that will keep it from rusting. I can't remember the name of the stuff off hand. I have used it myself on the dam chips on the leading edge of my hood.
It converts the rust into something elst and dosen't rust anymore. The main problem is it ends up being black and with your car being silver it would stick out like a sore thumb. BUT for the time being you could try that and some touch-up paint till your are ready to get that baby painted.

If it didn't go all the wat through, some rubbing compound and some work and/or touch up paint

Peas,

Key (bad pun) is whether or not it's to the bare metal. If not, try Maguire's (sp?) scratch remover. I used it on my black car, and it worked. Worked surprisingly very well at that.

Hey I got a solution but it's kinda bad depending on how you want to look it at. Anyways, here goes: Go and call the police in the morning and get a police report about the car. After that you go put your car in a autobody shop and park it there. Go tell the insurance company you just got keyed and show them the police report. Then they'll probably go we'll take a look at it (most likely call you the next day or later that day and if they can't get a hold of you, they'll forget about you and the car), after that tell them I already have my car in the shop and go look it now. There you go, you don't need to pay for a deductable and get covered, that's if you got full coverage on your car which i'm assuming. Get something out of your insurance because you're paying insurance and you should get the most out of it.
