I've been to Japan and had a blast. As far as car stuff goes, you'll most likely find those shops outside of the major cities...at least that's what I was told. Anyway, I went to what I assumed was like an Autzone over there. Man, they've got lots of stuff from stickers to rims to stereo components to a used turbo!

I suggest going to STi Tokyo. They usually has few several rally cars and crap loads of customers' modified cars. Other shops to look for are l'aunsports and car station marche, which are probably a couple hours away from tokyo by train. For non car related things, go to Akihabara electric town. All electronics, computer parts, are very cheap, and you can negotiate the price too. Anyways have fun!

the autozone type store could have been either super auto bacs or autowave. they're like giant car department stores and the parking lots look like car shows..

Ropogi, (spelling?) it is a big party district, lots of sweet cars driving around to.

Go to Shinjuku at night. Prefereably when there's a little drizzle going on. Looks just like a scene from Bladerunner! The whole place is awash in neon and lights and cars and people and street vendors. Watch out for the prostitutes though, and the homeless people under the bridge... If a scantilly clad woman hands you a business card, those are the "services" she offers and the prices. Oh yeah, most of the pimps and street hustlers (Yakuza wannabes?) work outside of the clubs there. They usually have bleached hair and trench coats... No one will actually bother you if you wave off the cards and don't do anything stupid.

if you're of legal age, go to Roppongi district of tokyo...

seriously speaking, try to go to nara, the city positively tingles with historical and cultural importance. or you can stay in tokyo and go to Ueno and Ginza districts and marvel at all the evo's, wrx's, gtr's and silvia's that seem to be all over the place. you can also go to one of the Iron Chefs restaurants there (anyone else here watch iron chef?) try also to go to mt fuji, there are sulfur mines on the top of the mountain and the locals have utilized the heat from the sulfur gases as a way to cook their food. i know sulfur boiled eggs and chicken may not sound too appealing but you never know how a toxin can make food taste so damn good.

have a blast when you're there its amazing..

something not to say to the locals

Kuso shi te shinezo!!

edit: kant spel..

My wife says that that Japanese saying "Kuso shi te shinezo" does not make sense.

"Kuso shi te" means to take a crap. "Shinezo" means nothing.

Yabbai nihongo daro ne. tabun gaijin no nihongo ne! (that is what my wife said. It translates to "that is strange Japanese isn't it. It must be foreigner Japanese!) My wife is native Japanese and speaks little English

Kanagawa ken is where alot of the Kanto tuning goes on. I lived there for a long time. Yes, Roppongi is happening!

Have alot of fun and don't act like the typical haku jin or koko jin ass. I am envious of you!

I love Japan!

It sounds like the panty man was hanging out in one of the red light districts, like Yokohama's Hinodecho!
