Default stock rims or heavy 17"?

I have a set of 17" wheels that the rubber needs to be replaced on, but I'm contimplating on going back to stock rims with new rubber instead. My 17's are 22 lbs each compared to the stock 16lbs. I can notice a difference.

OK... the questions.

The 17's have summer tires (kuhmo712) at 225. I was thinking about getting Ultra High Performance All Seasons instead of summers (Toyo Proxes4, Pirelli pZeroNero M+S, Avon TechM550) on either the 17's or the stock 16's. What would the performance difference be? If I did go with the 16's, I'd have to reduce the width (back to 205). What differnce would that make?

All I know is that the stock tire sucked... except they we way more cushy on bad roads and the 17's felt better in all other ways but they're heavy as hell.

I'm not racing or autoxing... just spirted daily driving. Thanks.

I have 225/50 proxies 4's on oem wrx wheels, you get a bit of a bulge but the tire crushes the re92 in any/every other dept. I do prefer the look of a tire that fits the wheel and isn't bulged like mine. However, the combination is 1 lb lighter than stock and drastically outperforms the stock setup. You really have to figure out what you want. I am getting 17x8 rota torque's and I'm putting sti re070 takeoff's on them. I know I will be picking up 7+lbs a wheel+tire than before. But I think I can live with it for the traction increase in the summer/spring. I'll have to see!
